Famous director Tim Burton and actress Monica Bellucci have announced their breakup. The couple, who had been together for nearly two years, shared the news in a joint statement sent to AFP. Fans were shocked, as Tim and Monica seemed like the perfect pair!
“With great respect and mutual affection, Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” the statement read.
The news stunned fans, as there had been no prior reports of problems in their relationship. The reason for the split has not been disclosed, but the statement makes it clear that the decision was mutual.
The director and actress first met in 2006 at the Cannes Film Festival. At that time, Bellucci was married to Vincent Cassel, and Burton was in a long-term relationship with Helena Bonham Carter. Their paths crossed again only at the Lumière Film Festival in 2022, and that’s when things started! In October, the actress presented an award to the director. Tim and Monica spent time together in Madrid in February 2023.
In June 2023, Bellucci publicly confirmed their relationship for the first time. Monica also appeared in Burton’s new film Beetlejuice 2. They were last seen together at the world premiere of the movie at the Venice Film Festival in August 2024.
