A late-night ride in Los Angeles took a shocking turn when an Uber driver found his passenger completely unresponsive in the back seat. What he thought would be a simple drop-off quickly turned into a situation he wasn’t prepared to handle.
The driver tried everything — tapping the man’s shoulder, raising his voice, even pulling over and opening the back door — but the passenger wouldn’t wake up. With traffic rushing around him and no idea whether the man was sick, intoxicated, or in real danger, the driver made a decision he hoped he’d never have to:
he called the police.
Officers arrived within minutes. Bodycam footage shows them assessing the situation carefully, checking the man’s vitals, and trying to wake him. After several tense moments, the passenger finally stirred, confused and barely able to speak.
The officers determined he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The Uber driver explained he didn’t want to leave the man alone on the street — or risk driving him around in that condition.
What started as a routine ride turned into a rescue mission in the middle of LA nightlife.
The passenger was safely taken for medical evaluation, and the driver was praised for doing the responsible thing.
In a city that never sleeps, sometimes it’s the people who can’t wake up that cause the biggest scares.
