An attempted shoplifting spree took a wild turn at a Target store this week when a woman was caught trying to walk out with over $1,000 worth of unpaid merchandise — and her reaction quickly went viral.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was calmly making her way toward the exit with a cart overflowing with electronics, clothing, and home goods when loss prevention officers confronted her just outside the store’s doors. That’s when things got chaotic.
“She just snapped,” said one shopper, who captured part of the incident on video. “She started screaming that it was all a misunderstanding, then accused the employees of harassment. It was wild.”
Security footage reportedly shows the woman bypassing all points of sale and attempting to leave the premises without paying. When confronted, she allegedly began shouting obscenities, throwing items from her cart, and even collapsing to the ground in a dramatic attempt to avoid arrest.
Store employees managed to de-escalate the situation until police arrived on the scene. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody and is now facing charges of felony theft and disorderly conduct.
“She lost it in front of everybody,” another shopper said. “It was like something out of a reality show. People couldn’t believe what they were seeing.”
The store has since restocked the items and praised staff for handling the situation professionally.
This incident serves as a reminder that retail theft is not only illegal but can also come with serious consequences — especially when the getaway doesn’t go as planned.
