A bodycam video has gone viral after capturing a lighthearted yet deeply human moment between a state trooper and a driver living with Tourette Syndrome.
In the clip, the driver can be seen nervously explaining his sudden outbursts and movements, joking about “chasing squirrels” as his tics flared up during the stop. Instead of reacting with frustration, the trooper stayed calm, patient, and even shared a laugh with him.
Later, the driver shared a heartfelt message online: “Dear trooper, I hope you enjoyed this encounter as much as I did. Sorry for chasing the squirrels. On behalf of fellow Touretters… THANK YOU sir for being so patient!! I hope you were able to watch my stuff and get a little chuckle, but more importantly a better understanding of TS.”
The post, paired with the bodycam footage, has been praised widely for shining a light on Tourette Syndrome while highlighting the importance of empathy in law enforcement. Viewers across social media have called it a refreshing reminder that kindness can turn even a stressful encounter into a meaningful one.
