Police intervened after a 2-year-old child was found left alone inside a hot car while the parents went shopping. Bodycam footage shows officers urgently trying to wake the toddler, who was sweating and struggling in the extreme heat.
Authorities said the child could have suffered serious injury or even death if left any longer in the vehicle. The parents have been taken into custody and are facing charges of child neglect and endangerment.
Child safety experts warn that temperatures inside cars can rise rapidly, even on mild days, putting children at severe risk within minutes. They urge parents to never leave children unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
The child has since been placed under protective care while investigations continue.
