Police in Morris responded to a disturbance call that quickly escalated into a dangerous confrontation. According to officials, a woman armed with a knife approached officers despite repeated commands to stop and drop the weapon.
Bodycam footage shows officers backing up while attempting to de-escalate the situation, but the woman continued advancing. When she came within dangerously close range, officers were forced to fire to stop the threat.
Medical aid was given immediately, and paramedics arrived within minutes, but the woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators are now reviewing bodycam video, witness statements, and the officers’ actions as part of the standard protocol for incidents involving the use of deadly force. The department stated that the officers attempted multiple verbal warnings before the shooting occurred.
