The initiative is intended to strengthen government expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and other advanced technologies while creating stronger connections between federal agencies and private industry.
Officials describe the program as part of a broader effort to ensure that government agencies possess the technical talent necessary to manage increasingly sophisticated digital infrastructure.
Participants completing the two-year program would also become eligible for employment opportunities with participating technology companies, while experienced private-sector employees could temporarily serve within government through reciprocal arrangements.
Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor recently explained that the initiative is focused on placing highly skilled professionals where they can have the greatest impact.
