On the morning of January 24, 2026<\/strong>, in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota<\/strong>, 37\u2011year\u2011old Alex Pretti<\/strong>, a U.S. citizen and intensive care unit (ICU) nurse.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was fatally shot by federal agents<\/strong> deployed as part of a large immigration enforcement operation. Pretti, who worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was legally armed and held a Minnesota concealed\u2011carry permit, according to local police. What unfolded that morning is now the subject of intense public scrutiny, multiple investigations, and widespread protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to independent reporting, an agent removed Pretti\u2019s holstered firearm from his waistband<\/strong> while he was restrained, and seconds later shots were fired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Federal officials initially reported that Pretti \u201capproached officers with a handgun\u201d and that two federal agents fired their weapons in response to what they perceived as a threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the publicly available video evidence and multiple witness statements<\/strong> clearly show Pretti did not brandish a weapon, and that he was not pointing it at officers at the time he was shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
