What many people don’t see are the heartbreaking moments during pick-ups and drop-offs—the tears, the clinging hugs, and the cries of little ones who don’t want to say goodbye to either parent.

This is exactly what one mother shared in her raw confession. She explained that when her children cry during custody exchanges, it doesn’t mean their dad is a bad parent or that she is a bad mother. It only means one thing: their kids love them both deeply, and letting go hurts.

But her message went beyond the struggles of co-parenting. She revealed the painful truth many parents learn too late: “Choose wisely who you decide to marry and have children with.” She admits her elders once warned her, but she didn’t listen until life forced her to understand.

Now, remarried and happier than ever, she still faces the heavy guilt of watching her children’s hearts struggle. She says this guilt is why so many parents remain trapped in unhappy relationships—believing it’s better for the kids. But in reality, she’s learned the opposite.

Her powerful words hit home:“It is more important for our kids to see us happy and being loved correctly than to see their parents constantly battling each other. Holding on can do more damage than letting go.”

For her, the only choice now is to hold her children tight, comfort them in their pain, and pray that one day they will understand the decisions she made.

This story is a reminder that sometimes the bravest act of love for your children is walking away from what’s broken—so they can grow up watching what love is supposed to look like.

@kiannna_33
This happens occasionally during his pick ups and even my pick ups as well. THIS DOES NOT MEAN HE IS A BAD PARENT OR I AM A BAD PARENT! This simply means our children love their mommy and daddy very much and it’s hard for them to tell us bye. Some advice for some of you.. Please choose wisely who you decide to marry and have children with. I never understood my elders when they told me this when I was younger but now that this is my reality I wish I would’ve listened and done life a lot differently. Even now that I am remarried and I am happier as I have ever been… my babies hearts are still hurting.. I can only pray that with time they can heal. This is the guilt that many are scared of and the reason why they stay in unhappy relationships… but one thing I’ve learned is it is more important for our kids to see us happy and being loved correctly rather than seeing their parents in constant battles with each other. Holding on can do more damage than we think.
